Hurricane Gustav Updates
August 28th: Hurricane
Gustav is now projected to pass closer to Jamaica
early Thursday afternoon, having changed its track
southward overnight. In light of this development,
our offices will be closed on August 28th. Gustav is
expected to affect the island with heavy rains and
tropical storm force winds. The center is expected
to pass just south of Kingston, possibly making
landfall on the island on Thursday night. Further
bulletins will be issued as necessary.
August 27th: Interlinc
Communications will remain open for business on
Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Hurricane Gustav has
been downgraded to a tropical storm and has slowed,
although further strengthening is expected to
take place on Wednesday evening and the system may
affect the island on Thursday, August 28th. Further
bulletins will be as necessary as the company
continues to monitor the situation.
August 26th: Hurricane
watches have been issued for Jamaica, as Hurricane
Gustav is expected to start affecting the island on
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008. The storm currently
has winds of approximately 90mph and has been
projected to intensify. While unlikely to make
landfall on Jamaica, the storm is expected to move
close enough to the island to pose a threat to
infrastructure and Interlinc Communications is
currently assessing and preparing for the eventual
effects of Gustav. While our offices are scheduled
to be open on Wednesday morning further updates will
be issued as the situation progresses.
